Crisis Stabilization Programs - Child & Adolescent

The C&A Crisis Stabilization Program in Rome/Floyd County - 16 Beds - serves the following primary counties for Crisis Stabilization, as well as other residents of the State of Georgia: Bartow, Cherokee, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Whitfield, Haralson, Dade, Walker, Catoosa and Chattooga.

This program provides short-term Crisis Stabilization for child and adolescent mental health and adolescent addictive diseases detoxification. The C&A CSP is licensed as an Emergency Receiving and Evaluating Facility and certified by the Department of Human Resources. Consumers are under the medical care of a physician with 24-hour RN care, and a Clinical Coordinator assisting with aftercare planning and therapeutic services.


Admissions
Criteria:

  • Children ages 5 through 12 and adolescents 13 through 17
  • Consumer must have a DSM IV-TR diagnosis of a mental health or addictive disease disorder
  • Must be in acute psychiatric or substance abuse crisis requiring 24-hour supervision for detoxification from alcohol and/or other drugs or stabilization from a mental health disorder
  • Ambulatory and able to perform activities of daily living
  • Consumer does not require IV, oxygen, or catheter care
  • Free of infectious disease requiring isolation procedures, ie: open wounds, etc.
  • C&A Crisis Stabilization Physicians' approval after assessment of consumer's medical and psychiatric appropriateness for this level of care (see attached Admission Criteria)

Exclusions
Criteria:

  • Under age 5 or older than 17
  • Medical complications prohibiting residential treatment
  • Consumers exhibiting acts of violence
  • Consumers requiring long-term care

Services:

  • Emergency Receiving and Evaluating Facility
  • Individual and family therapy
  • Short-term 24-hour residential services (average length of stay may not exceed 9 days)
  • Group therapy and consumer education groups
  • Short-term detoxification from alcohol and drugs
 
  • Medication management
  • Psychiatric evaluations and histories
  • "Transitional" care services if clinically indicated (two beds allowed)
  • Nursing Assessments and laboratory screenings
  • Discharge and aftercare planning
